Your attitude and disposition matter a lot when you appear for an interview. A positive and honest approach to your prospective employer and the specific job you are applying for is essential to establish rapport with your employer. If you are dishonest and impolite you are certainly not doing any good to yourself. Even if you get a job through dishonest means, it is possible that your dishonesty may come to light in the long run. This would definitely tarnish your reputation, if you have managed to have any.  Honesty and politeness are two important qualities that you should possess when you appear for an interview.

When an employer calls you for an interview he/she is placing certain amount of trust on you. When you apply for a job, your employer automatically assumes that you are, to some extent, aware of the qualifications and demands of that specific job. By being dishonest, you are destroying the trust that the employer has placed on you.

If you realize that with your academic achievements and talents you are not eligible for a particular job, do not apply for it because you may not be able to cop up with the demands of the job later. By lying to your interviewer about your qualities and qualifications, you are being dishonest to yourself. Also, when you acquire a job through dishonest means, you are depriving another person who can rightfully and honestly claim that job.

It is extremely important that you respect your interviewer. Seek permission when you sit down and when you remove your jacket. It is also important to thank the interviewer if you are offered any refreshments. It is essential show interest in the job for which you are appearing the interview. You need to also thank the interviewer for inviting you or the interview. You should remember that the person who interviews you is sparing time for you. Sometimes, by the end of the interview you may realize that the specific job for which you are being interviewed, may not suit to your skills and taste. But do not appear to be disinterested. You may be able to build a good relationship with your interviewer even if you do not opt for that job. Such relationships may prove to be beneficial later. If you got the interview through an agency, it is necessary that you call them and tell them if you intent to join the job for which you have attended the interview.

Your attitude and outlook can take you a long way. If you have a polite and honest attitude when you appear for an interview, you will be able to establish a positive relationship with your employer. Your willingness to interact and listen and your opinions and perceptions about things and people would also matter during the interview. You will be able to prove yourself worthy for the job despite the tough competition if you are sincere and respectful.
